Building Community With InstagramAre you pondering how to reach your church outside of Sunday’s service? Instagram is a brilliant platform to build community and share information about times of fellowship with your church squad. There are many reason’s why Instagram should be your church’s next tool to reach people, but we have boiled it down to 3 major reasons!

  1. We Are Visual Creatures
Last week, Instagram began rolling out 60-second video clips! For those of you that are less familiar with Instagram, users were previously limited to 15-second video clips, with advertising partners having the choice for a full 60-seconds. Now, the 60-second videos are available to all of us! It’s time to share that awesome moment of worship from last week’s service or a recap of the Easter egg hunt! Why is this important? Visual content is more than 40 times more likely to get shared on social media than other types of content.Do you need help building a social media plan? We’re awesome at campaign strategy and would love to help. Give us a shout!
  2. #Community
Hashtags turn topics and phrases into clickable links in your posts on your Instagram Feed. This helps people find posts about topics they’re interested in. To make a hashtag, write # (the number sign) along with a topic or phrase and add it to your post (via Facebook).Use hashtags to leverage your digital communications with the church. When your church community searches the hashtag, it will act as a catalog of memories and a way for people within the church to connect and interact! Check out hashtagify.me, a hashtag search engine to help you find relevant hashtags and keywords!
  3. Engaging People with God’s Creativity
Tom Wujac said, “When you doodle an image that captures the essence of an idea, you not only remember it, but you also help other people understand and act on it – which is generally the point of meetings in the first place (Deekit.com).”Let Instagram be your doodle! Liven up your Instagram feed with God’s great gift of creativity. Host an Instawalk with your church community during the week! Encourage the body of Christ to explore your neighborhood together.
